Fire at Oceana water park, Gothenburg
On 12 February 2024, the final preparations are underway for the opening of Liseberg’s new water park, Oceana. When a fire breaks out in the exterior water slides, the crew leader from the Greater Gothenburg Fire and Rescue Service expects an outdoor fire. But what can’t be seen from the outside is that fire gases are drawn through the water slides into the tower and pool area and mix with large volumes of air. When the premixed fire gases form a combustible mixture, a violent ignition occurs. At the same time, a team of firefighters in SCBA, together with two construction managers, is in the building carrying out a rescue operation.
